PR Handy RFID Handheld Reader Integration Methods with Your Software: Portal, API or Bluetooth
RFID technology helps jewellery retailers, manufacturers and diamond businesses count inventory faster and reduce the manual effort involved in physical stock audits. However, selecting the right RFID reader is only one part of the solution. The reader must also exchange data with the company’s existing inventory, ERP or desktop software.
The PR Handy RFID Handheld Reader supports three flexible integration methods:
- Perfecto Client Hub integration
- Direct integration with the client’s APIs
- Bluetooth integration with a desktop application
Each model is designed for a different software environment and level of integration.
Option 1: Integration with Perfecto Client Hub
This option provides a complete RFID inventory counting and reconciliation solution through the Perfecto Client Hub.
The customer can upload inventory data to the Client Hub using an Excel file or a secure API. The PR Handy Android application then communicates with the Secure Perfecto API to fetch the inventory data required for stock counting.
During a physical stock audit, the user scans RFID-tagged jewellery, diamonds or other inventory using the PR Handy Reader. The reader captures the RFID Tag IDs and submits the counting results through the Secure Perfecto API.
The Perfecto Client Hub compares the scanned RFID tags with the uploaded inventory and generates reconciliation results such as:
- Matched items
- Missing items
- Additional items
- Duplicate items
Users can review tally reports in the portal and download the results in Excel format. The results can also be retrieved through an API for integration with another ERP or inventory system.
Best suited for
This option is ideal for businesses that need a complete RFID stock-counting platform without developing their own reconciliation application.
Perfecto provides
- Perfecto Client Hub
- Secure Perfecto API
- PR Handy Android application
- Inventory upload through Excel or API
- RFID stock reconciliation
- Tally reports
- Excel download and result APIs
Option 2: Direct Integration with the Client’s APIs
Some businesses already have an ERP, inventory platform or web-based application and want RFID counting to work directly with their existing system.
In this model, the PR Handy Android application integrates with APIs provided by the client. The application securely authenticates with the client’s system and fetches the inventory data required for counting.
The stock count is performed on the PR Handy Reader. Once scanning is completed, the Android application submits the count results to the client’s system through the provided API.
The inventory data, business logic and final results remain within the client’s infrastructure. A separate Perfecto portal or database is not required.
Client responsibilities
The client is responsible for providing:
- API documentation
- Authentication credentials
- Inventory data API
- Stock-count result API
- Inventory matching or business rules
- Database storage
- API availability and security
Perfecto responsibilities
Perfecto’s scope is limited to providing or customizing the Android application installed on the PR Handy Reader. The application will consume the client’s APIs, perform the required RFID scanning process and submit the results.
Best suited for
This option is suitable for businesses that already have a modern ERP or web-based inventory platform with secure APIs.
It allows them to introduce RFID counting while continuing to use their existing software, database and reporting system.
Option 3: Bluetooth Integration with a Desktop Application
Many jewellery businesses continue to use Windows-based desktop ERP or inventory software. These systems may not have web APIs but can accept data from a locally connected device.
In this integration model, the PR Handy Reader communicates with the customer’s local computer through Bluetooth.
The reader performs only three functions:
- Scan RFID tags
- Capture the RFID Tag IDs
- Send the raw Tag ID data to the connected computer
The reader does not match the scanned tags with inventory and does not calculate Found or Not Found results.
All reconciliation takes place within the client’s desktop application. The customer’s software receives the raw RFID Tag IDs, compares them with its local inventory database and generates results such as:
- Found
- Not Found
- Total scanned
- Missing inventory
- Additional inventory
The desktop application is also responsible for storing the results and generating reports.
Perfecto can provide the Bluetooth communication interface, SDK or sample integration code required for the customer’s development team to receive the Tag ID data.
Best suited for
This option is suitable for businesses that use a local Windows desktop application and want to add RFID scanning without migrating to a web-based platform.
Which Integration Method Should You Choose?
The right integration method depends on the customer’s existing software infrastructure.
| Integration Method | Suitable For |
|---|---|
| Perfecto Client Hub | Businesses that need a complete RFID inventory counting, reconciliation and reporting solution. |
| Direct Client API Integration | Businesses that already have a web-based ERP or inventory platform with APIs and want the reader application to communicate directly with it. |
| Bluetooth Desktop Integration | Businesses that use a local desktop application and only require the reader to send raw RFID Tag IDs to their software. |
One Reader, Multiple Integration Possibilities
Every business manages inventory differently. Some require a complete cloud-based platform, while others want RFID capabilities added to an existing ERP or desktop application.
The PR Handy RFID Handheld Reader supports all three approaches, allowing businesses to adopt RFID stock counting without unnecessarily replacing their current software.
Whether you choose the Perfecto Client Hub, direct API integration or Bluetooth desktop connectivity, PR Handy provides a flexible foundation for faster stock audits, improved inventory visibility and more reliable jewellery inventory management.
